Perfumed Nightmare

Tahimik narrates the village's everyday routines in voiceover. He is fascinated with Voice of America broadcasts, especially on space exploration. He forms the Werner von Braun fan club to be part of the developed world. During an abortive international conference, an American gets his chance. The American invites him to Paris to manage his street gumball machine. He meets acquaintances in Paris and Germany and learns that growth in the industrialized world loses vital values. Against the backdrop of a summit gathering in Paris, he resolutely refuses to accept the parameters of progress, resigning as chairman of the Werner von Braun fan club and insisting he will find his own way.
