Lou Reed & John Cale: Songs for Drella

Songs for Drella is a concept album created by Lou Reed and John Cale, who were both formerly members of The Velvet Underground. The album is devoted to the memory of Andy Warhol, who was their mentor who passed away suddenly in 1987. It was Warhol Superstar Ondine who gave Andy Warhol the nickname "Drella," which was a contraction of the names Dracula and Cinderella and was utilized by Warhol's audience. The song cycle focuses on Warhol's interpersonal relations and experiences, with songs falling roughly into three categories: Warhol's first-person perspective (which makes up the vast majority of the album), third-person narratives chronicling events and affairs, and first-person commentaries on Warhol by Reed and Cale themselves.
