The Toy Soldiers
The innocence of youth and family is shattered on one evening during a decade of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. The stages of grief are dramatized in five parallel coming-of-age stories. A young mother battling for custody of her children finds solace in the bottle. Her ex-abuse husband's continues to haunt her children, a nineteen-year-old drug addict and his younger brother, a bullied closet homosexual. There's the dog story; a teen who offers sexual favors to gain acceptance; the challenged classmate who would do anything for her love; and the redhead beauty who is haunted by a secret, tragic past. These and other people's lives will be forever changed on this final evening before their favorite hangout, The Toy Soldiers Roller Rink, closes its doors for the last time.
